Toronto psych-punk band Wine Lips are releasing their fifth studio album, TV Dinner, on August 28, 2026, through Stomp Records, extending the Canadian group’s international reach as it prepares for another run of European, UK and North American tour dates.
The 13-track record combines garage punk, psychedelic rock and fuzz-heavy alternative music while turning its attention towards rising living costs, social media, consumer habits and the everyday pressures of life in 2026.
Wine Lips Returns With Fifth Album TV Dinner
TV Dinner follows a decade in which Wine Lips has developed from an independent Toronto act into a Canadian rock export with an increasingly international audience.
The band has accumulated more than 50 million streams on Spotify, received praise from Iggy Pop on BBC Radio and had its music featured across film, television and video games. Its touring schedule has taken the group across North America, Europe, the UK, Hong Kong and China.
Wine Lips has also shared stages with acts including Frankie and the Witch Fingers and Death From Above 1979.
While the band’s established garage-rock energy remains central to TV Dinner, the new record places greater emphasis on observations about contemporary life rather than escapism.
Songs Examine Costs, Algorithms and Consumer Culture
Several tracks draw directly from familiar economic and social pressures.
“Cut It” examines different forms of addiction, moving between nicotine, shopping and the pursuit of short-term dopamine hits. “Trip to the Doctor” takes aim at wellness culture, conspiracy theories and competing claims about health.
“Thirst Trap,” meanwhile, focuses on algorithm-driven online culture and the experience of losing time to social media feeds.
Housing affordability also enters the record through “Semi Detached Furnished Home,” which addresses high rents, condominium development and the increasingly difficult prospect of owning a modest home.
The themes have particular resonance in Toronto, where housing affordability and the cost of living remain significant concerns for residents.
TV Dinner Balances Satire With Personal Reflection
Not every track approaches modern pressures through satire.
“If You Don’t Know” considers ageing and the realization that life continues moving regardless of nostalgia for younger years. “Strip Club DJ” takes a more humorous approach, drawing together expensive beer, lunch buffets, microwaved meals and the optimism involved in convincing oneself that everything is going according to plan.
Together, the songs position TV Dinner as a snapshot of everyday frustrations rather than a record built around a single political or social message.
Recording Process Keeps the Rough Edges
Wine Lips again worked with longtime collaborator Simon Larochette at The Sugar Shack in London, Ontario.
Rather than polishing away imperfections, the recording process deliberately retained mistakes, unexpected sounds and other spontaneous elements. The approach reflects the band’s reputation for energetic live performances and a garage-rock sound that prioritizes immediacy.
Aurora Evans takes a larger vocal role on the album, including lead vocals on “Projector.”
The band’s years of touring have also influenced the performances, with the musicians bringing experience gained from clubs, festivals and international touring into the studio sessions.
Wine Lips Heads to the UK and Europe Following Album Release
The release of TV Dinner coincides with an extensive international touring schedule that gives the band another opportunity to expand its audience outside Canada.
Wine Lips begins a European run with The Boojums in Haarlem, Netherlands, on August 28 before travelling through Germany, Poland, Belgium and other European markets.
UK performances are scheduled for The Dome in London on September 6 and Where Else? in Margate on September 8.
The tour then continues in continental Europe before Wine Lips returns to North America for a lengthy series of dates supporting Death From Above 1979.
North American Tour Extends Into December
The North American schedule begins October 13 in Detroit and includes stops in Atlanta, Houston, Austin, Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Portland and Seattle.
Canadian dates include Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Waterloo, London, Toronto, Montreal and Québec City.
The band is scheduled to play Toronto’s History venue on November 27 before continuing through the northeastern United States and finishing its announced run in Pittsburgh in early December.
Wine Lips Builds on International Independent Rock Growth
With TV Dinner, Wine Lips is combining its established psych-punk sound with themes centred on the economic, technological and cultural pressures shaping everyday life.
