Graduated President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (Workers’ Party) has called for a speech on Thursday (29), at 11 am, in which he should announce the entirety of the ministries of the Esplanada dos, possibly the leadership of Petrobras, Banco do Brasil and the federal Caixa Econômica.

Four days before the inauguration, Lula still needs to confirm 16 ministries, which is done on Thursday. The speech will be delivered at the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center (CCBB), the seat of the transitional government.

Petista’s party reached an agreement with the centrist parties that MDB, PSD and União Brasil would nominate three ministries each. Together, the two parties comprise 143 federal deputies and 31 senators.

In addition to the three parties, PDT will also be considered. The party’s national president, Carlos Lupe, will be the Minister of Social Security. There is also an expectation that Marina Silva will be confirmed in the Environmental Department, Ana Moser in Sports, Gonçalves Dias in the Corporate Security Office, Sonia Guajara in the Indigenous Peoples and Paolo Pimenta in the Social Communication Secretariat. The Ministry of Agricultural Development is in dispute between Workers’ Party deputies Paulo Teixeira and Reginaldo Lopez.

Lula’s installation must count on at least 65 foreign delegations, made up of heads of government, vice-presidents, advisers, special envoys and representatives of international organizations.

Ambassador Fernando Igreja, in charge of the opening ceremony, stated that this will be the largest event with high-level international authorities in Brazil since the 2016 Rio Olympics.

All heads of state and government that have diplomatic relations with Brazil are invited. So far, 30 heads of state and heads of government have confirmed their presence at the event. According to the ambassador, representatives from almost all South American countries will be present, as well as authorities from Central America, Africa and the Middle East, which indicates the importance of this moment in the international arena.

The 19 confirmed heads of state are the King of Spain and the following heads of state: Germany, Angola, Argentina, Bolivia, Cape Verde, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Guinea-Bissau, Honduras, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal and Suriname. East Timor, Togo and Uruguay.

Mexico’s first lady, Beatriz Gutierrez Mueller, will come as representative of the country’s president, Manuel López Obrador. Vice-presidents of China, Cuba, El Salvador and Panama also confirmed their attendance. The accredited heads of government are from the Republic of Guinea, Mali, Morocco and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The deputy prime ministers of Azerbaijan and Ukraine will also attend.

Among the heads of the authorities are the presidents of the Federation Council (Russia), the National People’s Assembly (Algeria), the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Iran), the Senate and National Assembly (Dominican Republic), the Republican Assembly (Mozambique), the Senate of Jamaica and Equatorial Guinea and the National Parliament ( Serbia).
