In Ijuí, according to Health Surveillance Coordinator Ortiz Júnior, the increase in positives compared to last year is also significant. This year there were 157 confirmed cases, while in 2021 there were only 29, i.e. in 2022 the increase was already 441.38%.
However, with regard to confirmed cases, Ortiz explains that some cases have received confirmation due to clinical improvement, that is, if other members of the same family of someone who has already tested positive show the same symptoms, they will also be notified as positive.
Regarding the number of suspected cases, Ortiz points out that in Ijuí this problem is dealt with occasionally: “We have a very good relationship with the municipality’s primary care network, that is, when any patient searches for an appointment in the network, he will already be notified that he is suspicious. After the necessary materials are collected, the environmental monitoring team analyzes them and determines which cases deserve more attention. Our agents immediately go to these sites and note a series of factors to then decide whether pesticides need to be used,” Ortiz says.
