Italian progressive rock trio return with cinematic new release exploring love, mortality and human connection
Italian alternative and progressive rock trio Hæka are set to release their latest single, “Where Spirits Meet” (Radio Edit), on 12 June 2026, marking the beginning of an ambitious new conceptual project that will culminate in a forthcoming double album.
The single will be available across radio and major digital streaming platforms and represents a significant artistic step forward for the band, whose music blends elements of electronic composition, alternative rock, progressive rock and metal.
Formed around the concept of duality, Hæka draw their name from the ancient Egyptian ideas of “Ha” and “Ka” — representing the physical body and the soul — while also referencing Heka, the deity associated with magic and creative energy. The group describes this fusion of spiritual and corporeal themes as central to its creative identity.
The trio consists of Vitorio Zambon on guitar, vocals and sound design, Jacopo Scibilia on drums, and Alberto Guglielmo on bass. The track also features guest vocalist Marta Ceccarini, whose ethereal vocal performance provides a contrasting dimension to the song’s atmospheric and cinematic soundscape.
New single launches wider conceptual narrative
Produced by Vitorio Zambon alongside Andrea Tripodi, “Where Spirits Meet” serves as the opening chapter in a larger narrative arc planned for the band’s upcoming double album. According to the group, the project explores themes of love, mortality, resilience and human connection in an increasingly fragmented society.
The release follows Hæka’s 2020 EP, Outer Space, which attracted attention from international reviewers and prompted comparisons with progressive rock acts including Porcupine Tree. The new material expands on that foundation while introducing a more expansive and emotionally driven conceptual approach.
At the centre of “Where Spirits Meet” is the idea of love as a force capable of transcending death itself. The storyline follows a protagonist travelling beyond mortality in search of a lost loved one, using symbolism and narrative to examine perseverance, emotional endurance and the search for meaning.
The interplay between male and female vocals is used throughout the composition to reinforce the concept of an unbreakable bond, a theme that the band intends to continue exploring across the wider album.
Songwriter reflects on modern relationships and emotional permanence
Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, songwriter Vitorio Zambon said:
“This song is intended as a reminder that everything we hold close can disappear at any moment. By imagining a moment of separation, it invites us to reflect on the importance and privilege of having someone by our side. It is ultimately a reflection on the possibility of building meaningful relationships capable of defying time itself. We live in a world that moves increasingly fast, where relationships often become temporary, superficial or based on convenience. ‘Where Spirits Meet’ asks whether something deeper can still survive.”
The initial release arriving in June will be presented as a Radio Edit, while the band has confirmed that a full Extended Version is scheduled for release later in the autumn.
Progressive sound positioned for broader international reach
Musically, the track combines progressive songwriting structures with immersive electronic textures and heavier rock influences, reflecting broader trends within the contemporary alternative music scene where genre boundaries continue to blur. The band’s cinematic approach and emphasis on conceptual storytelling place them within a growing wave of progressive artists seeking to combine narrative depth with modern production techniques.
For independent acts operating within the niche but internationally connected progressive rock market, streaming platforms and digital distribution remain critical routes to global audiences. Hæka’s forthcoming release strategy appears aimed at building sustained engagement ahead of the full album rollout, with the Radio Edit serving as an accessible introduction to the wider conceptual project.
With “Where Spirits Meet”, Hæka position themselves as a band focused not only on musical experimentation but also on thematic ambition. By combining atmospheric production, progressive arrangements and emotionally driven storytelling, the Italian trio are seeking to strengthen their presence within the evolving international alternative and progressive rock landscape.
