New Boards Introduced to Improve Visitor Experience

Visitors to Grundy Park in Cheshunt can now learn more about the park’s history, facilities and recent transformation following the installation of two new information boards.

The boards have been positioned behind the park’s main entrance gates and along the pathway leading towards the Laura Trott Leisure Centre. They are designed to help visitors better understand the layout of the park while also highlighting the extensive improvements carried out in recent years.

Council officials said the additions aim to provide both regular users and first-time visitors with a clearer picture of the park’s development and the amenities available on site.

Park Regeneration Highlighted Through New Displays

The information boards include maps of the park and details outlining how the area has evolved over time. The displays also showcase the regeneration works completed in 2024, which delivered a range of upgrades across the site.

The improvements included the creation of a new grand entrance, feature gardens, upgraded sports pitches, improved pathways and enhanced landscaping.

The latest additions form part of the Council’s continued investment in public spaces and community leisure facilities.

Council Emphasises Importance of Public Green Spaces

Councillor Pierce Connolly, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture, said:

“Grundy Park plays a key role in the health, wellbeing and enjoyment of our residents. These new information boards will help tell the story of the park, showcase its modern facilities and support our wider vision of creating high quality public spaces that people can enjoy for generations to come.”

Local authorities across the UK have increasingly prioritised investment in parks and green spaces as part of wider health, wellbeing and environmental strategies. Public parks continue to play an important role in supporting recreation, exercise and community engagement.

Project Supported by UK Shared Prosperity Fund

The information board project has been funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, which supports local investment and regeneration initiatives across communities in the UK.

Council representatives said the scheme forms part of a wider programme of improvements designed to enhance local spaces and encourage greater use of the Borough’s award-winning parks and green spaces.

Grundy Park remains one of the Borough’s key leisure destinations, offering residents access to sports facilities, open green areas and links to nearby community amenities, including the Laura Trott Leisure Centre.

The Council said the new boards are expected to improve the overall visitor experience while reinforcing long-term ambitions to maintain high-quality public spaces for future generations.
