After 13 years of dedication to its user interface, Xiaomi has decided to ditch MIUI to make way for an entirely new operating system, HyperOS. This move, which has been talked about in recent weeks, represents a new era not only for the brand’s smartphones, but for its entire wide product range.

HyperOS comes with the promise of unifying and improving user experience across more than 200 categories of Xiaomi products. This will range from smart home devices to long-awaited cars.

“I’m very excited to share MIUI’s big announcement – the new Xiaomi HyperOS. It will be pre-installed with the latest Xiaomi 14 flagship series and will gradually replace MIUI. I can’t wait for this new era of superior performance, seamlessness and connectivity between smartphones and AI technologies!”, Alvin said. Tse, Vice President of Global Xiaomi.

HyperOS will mark a new era beyond smartphones

According to Xiaomi, HyperOS is designed based on deep integration between Android and the Vela system itself, which has a completely rewritten infrastructure. The goal is to prepare a common foundation for the Internet of Things, capable of supporting communications between tens of billions of devices in the future.

“In 2014, when the IoT business began to take shape, we began exploratory development and verification. In 2017, the R&D of a new system to support all green devices and applications with an integrated system architecture was officially launched. This is our goal,” said Lei Jun, CEO of the company. Xiaomi, on the social network Weibo.

Xiaomi HyperOS will target a more interconnected Xiaomi ecosystem and will not be limited to smartphones only, HyperOS (Android + Xiaomi’s self-developed Vela architecture) will be available for Xiaomi’s phones, cars, and AIoT products.#Xiaomi #MIUI #Super operating system pic.twitter.com/C6cQY0QBJw

Xiaomi has confirmed that HyperOS will be released globally and will debut on the upcoming Xiaomi 14 phone. Although specific details about the new features are scarce, expectations are high. The tech community is now waiting for new flagship launches to discover HyperOS in all its glory.

In addition to the name, the company has not yet revealed any preview of what the new operating system interface will be like. This leaves users and brand fans waiting for more information, which should be presented at the launch event of the new smartphone models.
