WEC, Portimão: Toyota maintains its dominance in FP2

The order of the first practice session for the day and, essentially, the expected order for the weekend were maintained. Toyota led the second round of free practice with Ferrari close behind. Peugeot approached from the front and LMDH seemed to be having difficulties keeping up with the hypercar.

Kamui Kobayashi led the 90-minute session on Friday afternoon with a time of 1:32.155 in the #7 Toyota GR010 Hybrid, nearly a second ahead of the #8 driven by Ryo Hirakawa. Ferrari was far behind, just as in FP1, and finished third and fourth on the session with Miguel Molina in third in the #50 Ferrari with a time of 1:33.301 ahead of James Calado in the #51 Ferrari.

In fifth place was the #94 Peugeot, over a second and a half ahead of the competition, with Loïc Duval setting the best record for the French car which had problems with oil leaks. This was followed by the #5 Porsche, followed by the #93 Peugeot, and the #2 Cadillac. Glickenhaus was leading the #6 Porsche and the #4 Vanwall (he was just behind the LMP2 best).

In LMP2, Victor was No. 10 to take the session standard with Gabriel Aubry recording a time of 1:34.609 behind the wheel of the No. 07 Oreca Gibson #10. Rui Andrade’s No. 41 of WRT was seventh, and No. 48 of Jota’s Antonio Félix da Costa was in seventh. Tenth place.

In GT, Daniel Serra was fastest for Kessel Racing with a top 3 complete Ferrari 488 GTE Evos.

No. 56 of Project 1 – AO of Miguel Ramos and Guilherme Oliveira was the eighth not far from the reference.
