“We didn’t get involved, we had nothing to do with this. This was part of a struggle within the Russian system.”said the american president in the first comment on the short rebellion on saturday in russian territory.

Joe Biden further stated that he has asked his national security team to be updated “every hour” on the situation and to be prepared for different scenarios.

And he considered that “it is still too early to reach a final conclusion about what this will lead to.”

As the US President said so I spoke with several allies via video conference to make sure everyone was on the same page and coordinated in their response to the situation.

“We had to make sure we didn’t give Putin any excuse – and I stress, any excuse – to blame the West or NATO.”Joe Biden repeated.

Biden also said he spoke on Sunday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. “We’ll keep in touch, and maybe bring it back later today or earlier in the morning, to ensure we stay in touch,” he said.

I told him no matter what Whatever happens in Russia – and I repeat, whatever happens in Russia – we, the United States, will continue to support the defense of Ukraineand its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the US President emphasized.

In recent days, the mercenaries of the Wagner Group staged an armed rebellion that lasted less than 24 hours. The operation, which was led by Evgueni Prigozhin, allowed militants to conquer the city of Rostov, in southern Russia, and advance up to 200 kilometers from Moscow.

The rebellion ended on Saturday afternoon after an agreement was announced brokered by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. According to the Kremlin, this understanding establishes that Prigozhin will live in Belarus in exchange for immunity.
