Investing.com – United Kingdom stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.
At the London close, the index was up 0.40%.
The best performers of the session on the index came from shares of Flutter Entertainment plc (LON: ), which rose 4.70% to trade at 650.00 points at the close of the session at 14.00. Meanwhile, shares of Beazley PLC (LON:) added 2.90% or 19.00 points to end the day at 673.50 while shares of Beazley PLC (LON: B&M European Value Retail SA (LON: ), which was up 2.48% or 11.50 points at the close at 474.50.
The worst performers of the session were stocks ConvaTec Group PLC (LON: ), which declined 3.78% or 9.60 points to trade at 244.20 at the close. Melrose Industries plc (LON: ) was down 3.76% or 22.60 points to 578.00 and Severn Trent PLC (LON: ) traded down 3.60% or 89.00 points to end at 2.00.
On the London Stock Exchange, gainers outnumbered negatives by 974 to 846, while 685 ended unchanged.
Gold futures for August delivery were down 0.86%, or 20.30, at $2.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere, crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.11%, or 0.87, to settle at $78.92 a barrel, while Brent crude futures for delivery in August rose 1.03%, or 0.85, to trade at $83.47 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.07% at 1.27 and EUR/GBP was up 0.15% at 0.84.
The dollar futures index, meanwhile, rose 0.09% to 105.08.
