The UK authorities have alerted institutions in member states that trade with this country, including Portugal, to the need to register on the Traces platform to continue these operations, DGAV noted.

The Traces platform is an online service that authenticates and monitors the trade of animals, plants and other products.

The Directorate General for Food and Veterinary Medicine (DGAV) said: “The UK authorities have expressed concern, after realizing that a large number of accredited establishments in EU Member States are not registered with Traces NT, in particular establishments that produce meat and dairy products.” ).

According to published data, in Portugal, for example, 820 enterprises are approved to export meat products to the United Kingdom, but only 31 are registered with Traces.

In the case of raw milk and dairy products, there are 460 certified establishments, of which 8 are registered on the platform.

He stressed that “the British authorities have informed that in order to maintain their trade with the United Kingdom, companies producing food and animal products must be registered in the Traces NT computer system.”

DGAV is a central service of the direct administration of the state, enjoying administrative autonomy.
