With the spring and rainy season approaching, representatives of the Ubatuba City Council that includes the Arbovirus Situation and Command (Dengue, Zika, Chikungunya and Yellow Fever) met on Thursday (15) to plan various measures to be implemented in the municipality to combat the spread of mosquitoes Aedes aegypti.

Coordinated by Health Surveillance, the group is programmed to anticipate prevention work and avoid an outbreak of dengue fever in the city. Based on the meeting held in the health department building, the municipality’s emergency plan will be updated – to prevent arboviruses and guide actions and decisions to be taken in case of emergency.

Among the measures to be developed are training of community health agents, kata knitting services, projects in schools, and continuing work in the endemic sector with inhalation and obstruction in homes and businesses, among other projects.

Another topic highlighted at the meeting was the importance of tests to confirm dengue fever. According to the municipality’s epidemiological surveillance coordinator, Alain Ambrogi, it is important that residents seek medical attention in cases of dengue symptoms and do a quick test and/or serology. With the correct identification of diseases, it is possible to define more accurate strategies for combating arthropod-borne viruses. It must be remembered that the mosquito egg lives for several months only waiting for the resumption of the rainy season and that the prevention of mosquito breeding should be carried out throughout the year,” said the coordinator.

According to the latest epidemiological bulletin issued on Monday (12), there are a total of 157 confirmed cases of dengue in the city and Chikungunya. The data is updated weekly and is available on the Health Watch page: https://www.ubatuba.sp.gov.br/administracao-direta/sms/vigilancia-em-saude/
