Tens of thousands of people were left without electricity in parts of Scotland and the UK after hail and frost this Sunday.

Ice eruptions have caused power outages around the Scottish-English border, with North Powergrid recording 1100 cases, which require significant repairs.

The company said it was trying to restore service to another 40,000 customers, while SP Energy Networks said 21,000 customers were without electricity this Sunday.

“Despite preparations being made, the Arven storm resulted Damage of size and severity was not seen in 15 yearsRod Gardner, North Powergrid’s leading incident manager, said.

The epicenter was reported below the Pacific Ocean floor, however; no tsunami alert was issued.

Some railroads between the cities of Edinburgh and Newcastle were canceled due to storm damage.

At least three people have been killed after trees fell in strong winds in Hurricane Arwen in the UK on Friday.
