ISable Camarinha, Secretary General of the General Confederation of Portuguese Workers (CGTP), took to the streets on Sunday to join the “March for the Right to Health”, in Lisbon, in defense of the National Health Service (SNS), asking that it stop investing in the private sector and become in the public sector .

In response to a question by reporters about why she was there, the head of the union said that “there is no investment in health and there is no appreciation for professionals.”

“There are no number of professionals necessary for the SNS to guarantee the constitutional right to health in Portugal,” he added.

According to Isabel Camarinha, “What happened is underfinancing, divestment and handover to the private sector in the services that social networking services have to guarantee”.

“What we say today is that it is necessary to invest in health, but in SNS, which must ensure the health needs of prevention and treatment throughout our country”Hinge.

Health professionals, users and trade unions took to the streets, this Sunday, in defense of the National Health Service (SNS), as promoters expected a “strong commitment” to the march scheduled in Lisbon, Porto and Coimbra.

This initiative is being promoted by several trade union structures linked to the civil service and the health sector, as well as by the Movement of Users of Public Services (MUSP), which intends to involve the population in “defending social networking services, responding to healthcare and the rights and working conditions of professionals”.
