The announcement was made through a statement signed by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, which claims there has been a “dramatic acceleration” of the concentration of Russian soldiers on the border with Ukraine.

“The embassy will remain in contact with the Ukrainian government, but we strongly urge all US citizens who remain in Ukraine to leave the country immediately,” the statement read.

The transfer comes as US authorities warn of the “imminent” danger of a Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby stressed that military action was possible “at any time,” but said the US government did not believe Russian President Vladimir Putin had made a final decision on the tension with Ukraine.

Biden and Johnson phone call

US President Joe Biden spoke by phone on Monday (14) with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and they agreed that “there is still a chance” to resolve the crisis in Ukraine with “diplomacy”.

“The Prime Minister and President Biden have informed each other of their recent discussions with fellow world leaders.
