Christmas in England is celebrated on 27th December and New Years on 2nd January

This may sound unusual, but the reason is that this year the festive holidays fall on a Sunday.

May miss London.

This year, Christmas Day, December 25 and New Year’s Day, January 1, are on Sunday. This means that even though both are holidays, for a large part of the population, it will be a normal weekend. However, considering the two days off in December due to calendar contingencies, the British government decided to replace the holidays with working days. After all, as the famous saying goes: “Christmas is when a man wants it”. When the rulers decide on the matter.

The day after Christmas is also a break for the English. Boxing Day is celebrated on December 26. Began to be known as Gift Exchange Day, but in England it took on a different meaning. Currently, the whole day is dedicated to football – many games are played from all divisions of the English championship.

For this reason, the administrator decided that December 27 (Tuesday) was a holiday associated with Christmas Day. This way, all Britons can enjoy the usual rest days of the holiday season. The same procedure was used for New Year’s Day. January 1, 2023 also falls on Sunday. The holiday will automatically change to January 2 (Monday).
