The Secretariat of Health in Barbalha has already conducted more than 1,600 consultations, in the first two phases of the Saúde em Dia programme. The project aims to reduce the pent-up demand for consultations and examinations that were waiting to be scheduled. In that first moment, the program benefited the residents of the metropolitan area of the city who received consultations in many specialties: general medicine, geriatrics, cardiology, neurology, and pediatrics, among others.

Student Maria Vittoria had been waiting five months for an ultrasound and managed to get her consultation. “I loved the programme, the team attended me well and I was able to make an appointment. I was waiting to have an ultrasound and they would be able to see me,” said Vittoria.

For Doctor Antonio Hilson, the project achieved its goal of reducing the waiting list. “We had a very large pent-up demand, due to the pandemic, for specialist consultations and examinations. this idea [do Saúde em Dia], in partnership with the Hospital Maternidad São Vicente de Paulo, to reduce waiting lists, to solve this population problem, we see that it has been quite successful. It was a very good decision and I congratulate the municipal health department’s initiative,” emphasized Dr Hilson.

Saeed Umm Dia continues this week. The next stage will take place next Saturday, the 26th, also in the Hospital Maternidad São Vicente de Paulo, starting at 7 am, with the residents of the rural area.
