The Regional Health Directorate strengthens the appeal against smoking – DNOTICIAS.PT

On the eve of World No Tobacco Day, which aims to alert decision-makers and the population in general to the tobacco epidemic, to smoking-related morbidity and mortality, the Regional Directorate of Health, through its unit dedicated to the prevention of addiction. Behaviors and Addiction – UCAD reinforces the appeal of the “I choose health, not tobacco” campaign.

In a note issued, the DRS noted that studies conducted indicated that the prevalence of tobacco consumption among youth was “decreasing” in the territory, “in addition to being the lowest in the country”. They noted that the data suggests “the effectiveness of the preventive strategies implemented over the past decade”.

UCAD has implemented preventive measures in schools, at different levels of education, in the workplace and in events dedicated to health promotion.
