ŠKODA Motorsport presents the ŠKODA ENYAQ RS Racing: the new concept car is equipped with a safety body and racing seats that fully comply with the strict standards of the FIA.

Furthermore, the use of renewable materials reinforces the commitment to sustainability. This all-electric concept car is inspired by motorsport DNA, inherited from the current ŠKODA Fabia RS Rally2 competition car.

“The ŠKODA ENYAC RS is more than just a design study; it is a preview of future technologies and shows how ŠKODA Motorsport is adding even more excitement to our RS road models,” commented Michal Hrabanek, Director of ŠKODA Motorsport. “This model demonstrates the technical capabilities of the ŠKODA Motorsport team, while pointing towards a sustainable future in motorsport.”

The ŠKODA Motorsport technicians approached the design and development of the ŠKODA ENYAQ RS in the same way as they do their competition cars. “In terms of handling and interior, the engineering team’s task was to get as close as possible to the current ŠKODA Fabia RS Rally2,” describes Jakob Jars, ŠKODA ENYAQ RS Project Manager.

The reinforced chassis, safety body, racing seats and six-point harnesses comply with current FIA regulations. The interior has been enhanced with a custom instrument panel from Biocomposites. The ŠKODA Motorsport engineers have even implemented a hydraulic handbrake lever, a standard feature of every rally car.

The powertrain of the ŠKODA Enyaq RS Race uses the battery and electric motors from the ŠKODA Enyaq Coupé RS production model, with an output of 250 kW (340 hp) in its latest development. However, the motorsport-derived mechanical limited-slip differentials on both axles limit wheel spin, thus ensuring maximum torque transfer to the road surface.

The design and tuning of both axles of the concept car have been modified based on the ŠKODA FABIA RS Rally2 technology. Carbon-ceramic brake discs are used on both axles. Furthermore, sustainable composite materials have contributed to weight reduction: the roof, fenders, rear spoiler, front and rear bumpers, rear-view mirrors, sills and interior components of the ŠKODA ENYAC RS Race are made of this innovative material.

The production process is similar to carbon composite, but the use of flax fibres reduces carbon emissions and paves the way for sustainability in motorsport. In the ŠKODA Fabia RS Rally2 prototype, which was presented during the Secto Rally Finland, several interior components, such as the floor, ventilation and instrument panel, are already made of flax. ŠKODA Motorsport is testing the material in other applications.
