The municipal health secretary conducts 266 HIV and syphilis tests in one day

On Thursday, December 9, a day of mass testing for HIV and syphilis was conducted at some family health strategies in Nova Friburgo. The work of the Municipal Health Department, through the local IST/AIDS/Viral Hepatitis Program, aims to expand the performance of these tests and thus early diagnosis of infection.

One hundred and ten tests were performed for HIV, of which two were reagents, and 156 for syphilis, of which 11 were reagents. A total of 6,624 condoms were sent to health facilities, as well as files containing information on this topic.

During the year, exams are offered in the SUS network, through the Nova Friburgo program, which already accommodates about 1,200 people in the city. The tests are offered at the Dr. Silvio Henrique Brown Health Center, in Sospiro, at the FHSs in Olaria (II and III), Riograndina, São Pedro da Serra, Rio Bonito, São Lourenço, Centenario, at the Raúl Certa Municipal Hospital and at the Maternity Hospital Dr. Mario Dutra de Castro.

Red December Day is celebrated this month, the period during which the campaign for awareness, prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases is carried out. In Nova Friburgo, in the next few days, until December 17, the laboratory of the local Raúl Certa Hospital will be offered a test to detect emergency care, hospitalized patients and staff.
