The Ministry of Health confirmed, on Friday (22/7), 696 cases of infection monkey pox in Brazil. Of those, 438 are in the state of Sao Paulo, according to the ministry.

Another 13 states have reported cases of the disease. 102 confirmed in Rio de Janeiro, 33 in Minas Gerais, 13 in the Federal District, 11 in Parana, 14 in Goiás, three in Bahia, two in Ceará, three in Rio Grande do Sul, two in Rio Grande do Norte, two in Espirito Santo, three in Pernambuco, one in Mato Grosso do Sul, and one in Santa Catarina.

“The ministry continues to communicate directly with the states to monitor cases and trace contacts of patients,” the ministry said in a statement.

according to World Health Organization (WHO)In the current outbreak, 14,000 cases of monkeypox have been reported in 71 countries. On Saturday, the organization will hold a press conference to announce whether there is an increase in cases constitutes a global public health emergency.
