The Quality Week will be held at the local health unit of Litoral Alentejano, from 7 to 12 November, under the theme “Health literacy, a right and a responsibility”.
The activities will take place in the health centers of Alcácer do Sal, Grândola, Santiago do Cacém, Sines and Odemira and in the Hospital Litoral Alentejano, promoted by various professional groups, in a dynamic perspective of work and partnership. They include activities within the scope of safe treatment, prevention of falls and pressure ulcers, clear identification of the patient, prevention of diabetic foot and health education sessions in the community.
This week, there will also be training sessions on Communication Disorders and Communication Disorders after CVA and on Communication Skills in Therapeutic Relationship, targeting health professionals and other activities such as language development for children 3-6 years old, targeting school groups from the Alentejo Coast.
On the 10th of November, the second ULSLA Quality Meeting will take place in the auditorium of the Hospital de Litoral Alentejano, where projects that enhance the quality of care in the field of health literacy will be presented, followed by a round table at which Prof. Dr. Cristina Vaz Almeida, President of the Portuguese Health Literacy Association , nurse Edalina Bordalo of the Office of Patient Safety at Centro Hospitalar Universitário Lisboa Central and Professor of Public Health and Vice Chair of the National Health Board, as well as as representatives of user and caregiver associations.
The week will end on November 12 with Quality Walk in partnership with the five municipalities in the area covered by ULSLA.
