This Saturday, the Braga City Council held a welcome session for 65 workers in the profession of operational assistant for health center groups that, since the beginning of this month, have moved to the municipal sphere within the scope of the decentralization of competences of the health sector.

At the session, the Mayor of Braga, Ricardo Rio, indicated that this is an additional responsibility of the municipality: “We will carry out proximity management so that a more efficient and quality service can be provided to the population”, he said, recalling that the competence of the autonomy will not have anything to do with doctors and nurses whose responsibility remains It is ARS-Norte.

The municipality of Braga sees the decentralization of competencies as “a unique opportunity in the evolution of the national health model, as this process constitutes an opportunity for municipalities to be real partners in health promotion and disease control”.

Among the decentralized competencies in the field of health are responsibility for the operational and financial management of health centers, i.e. maintenance, maintenance and management of equipment (excluding medical equipment), participation in planning, management and investment in new health care units of primary health services, including construction, equipment and maintenance, personnel management In the profession of operational assistant for groups of health centers.

This process of decentralization of competencies also includes the acquisition of various services (monitoring, cleaning, etc.), as well as the management of the vehicle fleet.

It should be noted that the government has set March 1 as the date for transferring competencies in the field of health to municipalities.
