The 13 highest calorie cakes on sale in Portuguese pastry shops
Contrary to what many might think, pastel de nata is not the worst on the list. at least.
It is almost impossible to enter a confectionery full of cakes in the windows, one more appetizing than the other, and not succumb to temptation. It’s hard to resist, yes, but knowing exactly what you’re eating will help.
Many pretzels are low in fiber and high in sugar and fat — a combination to avoid. In addition, they have a lot of empty calories, that is, they are nutritionally poor. They have no vitamins, minerals, or proteins, and they don’t bring any benefit (except for that momentary happiness that later turns into regret).
The freshly made cheesecake – don’t let the name fool you – is one of the most shocking prices around. Although it’s not the most caloric option, you’ll still consume 35.2g of sugar for every 100g. What makes this even scarier is the fact that the World Health Organization only recommends consuming 50g of sugar per day. That is, one queijada corresponds to more than half of the recommended amount.
