Teachers can get a flu shot starting Wednesday (19) in Belo Horizonte. The immunization kits will be available in 152 health centers in the capital, Minas Gerais, and in four additional centers, as well as the Drugaria Araujo and Druga Clara stores. Click here to see the titles.

According to the municipality, all primary and higher education teachers, including day care centers, nurseries, primary education, secondary education, vocational training and EJA, are covered by public and private networks. For immunization, it is necessary to present a document certifying active attachment as a landmark.

In addition to the teachers, the following have been called upon by the city council to fortify:

  • bedridden populations residing in long-term institutions;
  • children from 6 months to 5 years old (vaccination only in health centers);
  • seniors 60 years of age or older;
  • pregnant women and postpartum women (up to 45 days after childbirth);
  • People who are immunosuppressed.
  • health workers;
  • People with comorbidities.

According to the city council, other groups designated by the Department of Health as a priority for the public will be called upon to receive a flu shot over the next few weeks. The campaign runs until May 31.

Influenza vaccination aims to reduce complications from influenza virus infection. The trivalent vaccine protects against three strains of influenza virus (H1N1, H3N2, and influenza B virus).

There are no contraindications to taking the flu vaccine and other immunizations, such as the Covid-19 vaccine, on the same day.
