In the year that celebrates 25 years since one of the most iconic games of the past decades, we’ve seen a product revamp. The legendary Tamagotchi is back, but now it’s even more “smarter” than the original.
If you grew up, like me, in the ’90s and beyond, you likely have a tamagotchi. A small gadget that includes a virtual pet whose purpose is to stop it from dying. This philosophy is true with Tamagotchi Smart.
Tamagotchi is now back built into a kind of smartwatch
Adapting to the new era, Tamagotchi is now back in a slightly different format. Instead of that distinctive oval look, we now have a watch shape designed to fit you wherever you go.
The look you’re assuming now isn’t innocent, because it will also show hours and have a pedometer. To take advantage of this new ‘home’, Bandai also included touch controls and voice commands.
Tamagotchi Smart will let you wake up the virtual pet with your voice. However, there will be no specific order for this, which is a good decision since the main audience for this product will be children.
Each Tamagotchi Smart unit will include a different character, similar to what happened with the original product. Each purchase will be a different experience and an opportunity to take better care of the creature.
TamaSma cards were also introduced, which can be paired with the Tamagotchi Smart. This will allow you to add new content and new items that have a direct impact on the lives of virtual pets.
Finally, it is important to note that the Tamagotchi Smart will be sold in Japan from November, equivalent to about 50 euros. At the moment, there is still no information on global availability.
