After a record first semester of outbreaks of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which transmits diseases such as dengue, chikungunya and Zika virus, in Concordia, the second semester begins to stabilize. July recorded only one vector, according to data from the Epidemiological Surveillance Council (DIVE/SC).

This was the month with the fewest outbreaks since the start of the year in Concordia. In total, the city now has 1,295 mosquito carriers, which is 68% higher than that recorded in the same period last year, when there were about 770. January is still the month with the most records in the city, According to Dive.

As for the number of dengue patients, the number is the same as in June. There are 41 people diagnosed with the disease. Therefore, there was no record of those infected in July. According to the team at Dengue de Concordia, there are also no suspected cases of the disease at the moment. Of these 41 patients, 24 are men and 17 are women.

Almost all cases are original, i.e. contracted within Concordia. Only three patients contracted the disease in other cities. All cases so far are considered mild. Patients are located in neighborhoods such as Natureza, Poente do Sol, Fragosos, Jardim ngela, Nazar, Industririos, Frei Lency, Centro, Bussolaro, Imperial, Salete, Floresta, Portinari, Santa Cruz, Imigrantes, Petrpolis, Catarina Fontana and Linha Pinhal.

Concordia has been on alert since the beginning of the year for the possibility of a dengue epidemic due to the large number of outbreaks present, according to the epidemiological surveillance team. Concordia has been viewed as infested with mosquitoes since 2019, and this classification is also found in at least 11 neighborhoods.
