Settings app Windows 11 It has already been completely overhauled by Microsoft and gains a new sidebar interface, as well as colored icons, navigation improvements, and an improved dark mode. With the Sun Valley 2 update, the Windows developer intends to add more improvements to the Settings app.

The development of the Windows Settings app started 9 years ago in Windows 8. At that time, the app was called Computer Settings and was supposed to replace the Control Panel in a future version of Windows. In Windows 10, the app was just called Settings and more options have been added to it.

For the next version of Windows, Microsoft promised that all Control Panel options would be carried over to the Settings app. However, it is not yet known when this change will be completed. However, the dashboard is known to be here to stay until the change is fully made.

After Microsoft released the Creators Update, they decided to make minor updates to the Settings app instead of making a full Control Panel migration. Fortunately, with the release of Windows 11, updates took a quick pace.

One of the updates that will come with Sun Valley 2 will be the “Storage Spaces” option that has been moved to the Settings app. With that, the storage management feature has gained a new interface based on WinUI. This function is responsible for preventing user data from being lost due to failure of computer volumes by copying files to a second hard drive or SSD connected to the device.

Changes to Focus Assist

Another change was also made to the “Focus Assist” feature, now called “focus”, as the feature gained improvements throughout its development period. Improvements to the tool are expected in the Sun Valley 2 update.

Launch and availability

Sun Valley 2 update for Windows 11 will be released later in 2022 and one of its most notable features will be an improved version of the taskbar. In addition, improvements to the Start menu and other improvements to the operating system will be implemented.
