From 1 July, the municipality of Scalabit will also guarantee a range of competencies in the field of social work, such as the responsibility for drafting social pacts, including the mapping of municipal social facilities and the expression of national and regional priorities. It will also, among other functions, prepare technical reports to monitor and allocate cash benefits in cases of economic need and social risks and conclude and monitor listing contracts for social inclusion income beneficiaries.

To perform these new functions, protocols will be established with institutions that already provide social assistance and monitoring, such as the Santarém/Cartaxo delegation of the Portuguese Red Cross and Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Pernes, and monitoring contracts for the inclusion of RSI beneficiaries, namely, Misericórdia de Santarém, the Inter-diocesan Social Center of Santarém and the Association Social development in Santarém.

The remaining competencies will be guaranteed by the municipality’s Department of Social Work and Health.
