US intelligence aided Ukraine in the attack that destroyed the largest ship in the Russian fleet

US intelligence is believed to have helped Ukraine locate the Moskva, a guided-missile launcher that sank last month in the Black Sea. Several American newspapers present this news, citing anonymous sources in the US armed forces.

The preponderance of this partnership divides specialists, refers to New York times. Some officials interviewed by the newspaper say Ukraine has already confirmed the ship’s location and that information sent by the United States only confirms the coordinates. Others claim that US involvement was more active and that US surveillance was necessary in bringing down the ship.

What is certain is that US support for Ukraine comes in the context of real-time information exchange between the two countries. The Joe Biden administration has pledged to help the Ukrainians anticipate the deployment of Russian forces on the ground through secret services.

The NBC News It also claims that information sent by the United States to Ukraine helped sink the Moskva, the largest ship in the Russian fleet, on April 14. The Kremlin has never admitted that the ship sank as a result of an attack by a Ukrainian Neptune missile and reiterates that the ship was destroyed by a fire on board.

US officials interviewed by NBC News said that after locating the ship in the Black Sea, Ukraine asked the US which ship it was. The Americans would have made clear that it was a Moskva and confirmed its location. Only then Ukraine attacked the ship, but without warning the United States that it would attack it, according to the same sources.
