Russia attacks infrastructure in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro

Russian missile and drone bombardment this morning hit hydropower and hydroelectric power plants in central and western Ukraine, the electricity grid operator Ukrainergo reported.

He added: “During the night, the Russians again attacked energy facilities in a massive joint attack.”Ukrenergo said on Telegram. “Thermal and hydroelectric power plants in the central and western regions were damaged.”

Three other Ukrainian thermal power plants were damaged by the Russian attack, according to Ukrainian energy company DTEK.


“The occupiers attacked three thermal power plants belonging to DTEK. The equipment was severely damaged.”The company said in a statement. After the attack ended, energy engineers immediately began repairing the damage.”



According to regional authorities, Russian forces attacked several infrastructure in the Kamyansky district, near the city of Dnipro, and at least one person was injured. But Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galoshenko confirmed that energy facilities in the Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava and Cherkasy regions were attacked.


“Targeting electricity generation facilities with drones and missiles”“, wrote Glyushenko on Facebook.

Moscow has intensified its air strikes against Ukraine in recent weeks, specifically targeting energy infrastructure, in response to Ukrainian attacks in Russian border regions.

Ukrainian state television also reported hearing explosions in the Ivano-Frankivsk and Khmelnytsky regions, as well as in the city of Dnipro, while Russian cruise missiles were seen in Ukrainian airspace.


Dnipropetrovk Governor Sergey Lysak stated that “many energy facilities were damaged” in the region.

Meanwhile, the Polish Armed Forces said they had strengthened airspace surveillance, days after a Russian missile fired at cities in western Ukraine flew over Polish territory for 39 seconds.

The Polish Army Command said in a statement: “Last night, the Russian Federation observed intense long-range air activity, linked to missile strikes against targets on Ukrainian territory.”

“All necessary measures have been taken to protect Polish airspace” and the armed forces are “continuously monitoring the situation.”The statement added.
