Nearly 20 years after it released its “500 Greatest Songs” list, Rolling Stone magazine has updated its famous ranking. The selection was made based on the votes of more than 250 artists, musicians and producers, as well as critics and journalists associated with the music area, with each submitting a rating with the top 50. “Respect” for Aretha Franklin tops the list.

Of a total of four thousand songs, the magazine chose the 500 best songs of all time. According to Rolling Stone, more than half of them — 254 — were not included in the original list, which was published in 2004. “The result is a broader and more comprehensive view of pop music, a music that continues to rewrite its history with each beat,” the magazine wrote. .
