The 76-year-old star, singer of “Maggie May” and several other hits, was accused of assaulting a bouncer outside a children’s party at the luxury The Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach on New Year’s Eve 2019.

The incident allegedly occurred when Stewart, her eldest son, Sean, and other members of her family, including children, were denied access to the children’s department at resort.

The singer, who is recognizable by his blonde voice and blonde hair, pleaded guilty Monday to petty assault, a minor offense usually punishable by a fine.

However, the judge ruled out the trial of Stewart and her son, so there would be no formal detention or any criminal consequences, sparing the court a long and costly trial.

“No one was injured in the incident and the jury has not found Sir Rod Stewart guilty of the charge,” the singer’s lawyer, Guy Fronstein, said in a statement to AFP.

“Instead, Sir Rod Stewart chose to plead guilty to avoid the inconvenience and undue burden on the court and the public that high-profile lawsuits often cause.”

“In resolving the case, Sir Rod Stewart has not been convicted, sentenced or paroled,” the lawyer added.

Prosecutors told the judge on Friday that victim Jesse Dixon had no objections, a prosecution spokesperson confirmed to AFP.

Stewart is among her many hit songs such as “Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright)” or “Sailing” and has released more than 30 albums in her career.

The singer was awarded a knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II in 2016, and in September 2019, it was revealed that she beat prostate cancer.

Your son Sean has a history of addiction and legal problems. In 2002, he was arrested for attacking a man outside a Malibu restaurant, in a separate fight for actor Dean Kane. In 2015, he was arrested for riding a baggage cart in the restricted area of Miami Airport.
