Efforts to remove more than 2.5 tons of potential breeding grounds for dengue mosquitoes

The Municipal Health Department, through the Environmental Health Monitoring Division, held on Saturday 2 July another task force to combat the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
The activity was concentrated in the neighborhoods of Parque São Sebastião, Jardim do Trevo and Villa Abrasions, where homes were visited and containers collected that could serve as breeding grounds for Aedes aegypti mosquitoes that transmit dengue, Zika and chikungunya.
Six trucks were removed from unusable items such as cans and plastic bottles, and 620 tires totaling 2.5 tons. All this material was dumped in the open in backyards and vacant land.
The collective effort involved 96 endemic disease control agents from the Environmental Health Surveillance Division and six trucks that were used to transport the materials.
