Ribeirao: 9% of suspected dengue cases confirmed in 2021

The municipality of Ribeirão Preto confirmed 9.28% of suspected dengue cases between January and November this year.

During this period, the Health Department received 3,351 notifications, and recorded 328 positive examinations for the disease, according to the latest epidemiological bulletin.

The number of confirmations translates to a 98.1% decrease compared to the same period in 2020 – in eleven months of that year, the city recorded 17,599 cases of dengue.

In the past month, there were four confirmed cases, according to the ministry. The decrease was 33.3% compared to November last year when the municipality registered six confirmations.

So far, dengue has caused no deaths in the city in 2021. In 2020, there were ten deaths from the disease.

With 151 positive cases in 2021, the region Leste It is the area of ​​the city with the highest number of people infected with dengue fever.

Below are the regions West (61); On the (43); north (41); middle (32).

The Bonfim Paulista region does not have any disease cases.

Other diseases

The balance also represents the diseases chikungunya and Zika, which are also transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

In the case of chikungunya, the only confirmation was recorded in March of this year. This is the person who contracted the disease in Praia Grande, on the coast of São Paulo, and it was confirmed in Ribeirão Preto.

As for the Zika virus, no cases of infection have been confirmed this year in Ribeirão.
