In recent years, Capcom has invested heavily in remakes of the Resident Evil series, focusing on Games 2, 3, and 4. Although a remake of the first game in the saga was released in 2002, many believe it may be time to release a new update to the title. , as well as for Code Veronica, a game that complements the main saga and is considered by many to be one of the best Resident Evil games of all time.
While Capcom has not announced official remakes of these games, some fans have been working on their own versions, but the Japanese studio wasn’t happy about this and decided to stop releasing these projects.
It’s been some time Here at TC we’re talking about a fan-made remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronicaa project that worried many, even more so when we take into account that Capcom has confirmed that it has no interest in releasing an official remake of the game.🇧🇷
The same team responsible for the Code Veronica remake has also been working on a remake of the first Resident Evil, but this week, both projects have been banned by Capcom.
In a post on their social networks, the independent developers revealed that they had been contacted by Capcom and that the owners of Resident Evil’s intellectual property had canceled the projects. In the first announcement, the group’s developer and Discord administrator, Briins, briefly said the cancellation was done out of “pure malice,” but a second message shared the next day seemed to provide more context.
The developer said Capcom reached out to the group and wanted to know more about where the remake’s creators got things like the 3D models and animations used in the remakes. The developers claim that Capcom initially canceled remakes “very kindly”, followed by an even more stern email demanding that the project be canceled and the remake web page deleted.
Code Veronica and Resident Evil fan remakes have been officially canceled by Capcom.
We apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment. All information about the developer dispute. Thank you.

Although they were disappointed that they weren’t able to launch the new versions, the developers revealed that they intend to keep the Discord server online and that they will focus on releasing their original games.
Interestingly, Capcom recently filed a patent for the Resident Evil – Director’s Cut trademark, which has made many suspect that the developer might be working on a new official remake of the first game, but as always, we’ll have to wait and see if the suspicion persists. .

Could Capcom have changed its mind and told fans to cancel remakes, since they intend to release official remakes?
