The Secretariat and the Municipal Health Council in big river They held joint meetings in several districts of the municipality, in order to resume the work developed by the local health councils, many of which have been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to the appeal, the two bodies are working on the idea of expanding the councils into neighborhoods that have yet to be implemented.

The councils’ role was to report on the health care provided by the core units at each site and the situations in which services could be improved. Two meetings were held on Wednesday (17), one on Torutama Island and one in the Santa Rosa community, where Secretary Zileonara Branco participated in the discussion with members of the Municipal Council. In Santa Rosa, the local council is one of those that have been revitalized.

In September, new meetings were scheduled with these two communities to assess progress on what was referred to in this week’s meetings. On the 14th, the meeting will return to Torutama Island and on the 26th in Santa Rosa.

There are currently boards at Tortama, Santa Rosa, Caic, Sao Miguel 2, PPV, BGB 1, Barra, Santa Tereza, Querência, Bernadeth and Marluz locations.

The demands presented at the meetings are the most diverse. Many consultants make suggestions such as expanding the infrastructure of some units and servicing the programs offered, such as Vida Ativa, as well as more professionals in health jobs. The department has endeavored to meet all the demands, so much so that it has recently filled the shortage of physicians that has existed in some units since the beginning of this department. Today, every health center has a community service physician, and the proposal is to increase the number of these professionals in locations that place greater demand for medical care.
