Although it sounds like a scene from a science fiction movie, this type of “rain” has happened on several occasions and has a logical explanation. This is due to a very strong weather phenomenon.

According to National Geographic. An event known as “animal rain” occurs when streams of water suck fish or other animals from rivers or lakes, pulling them into clouds and falling as rain.

Scientists claim that fish rains are caused by hurricanes. When a hurricane crosses the sea or ocean, it catches fish, frogs, turtles or crabs with the force of the wind.

Animals move with the hurricane and remain in the sky until the wind speed decreases. When there is a gradual slowdown, the creatures fall to the ground along with the rainwater. In this case, creating a “rain of fish.”
