The newspaper reported that the Labor Party had notified Google extrajudicially of a proposal to review research linking President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to corruption. the world and the portal UOL. On Friday (5), the eve of King Charles III’s coronation, users were shown images of searches for “Lula coronação” to which the search engine responded with the question: “Do you mean ‘Lula corruption’?”

Some of them assumed that there would be an ideological bias in Google’s algorithm. However, this behavior of the search engine is common: when rarely performed searches are similar to frequently performed searches, the algorithm usually suggests the frequent variant, assuming a typing error.

second the worldThe Workers’ Party says that Google’s proposal on Lula constitutes “an abuse of economic power and an infringement of the right of free conscience of Brazilian citizens”. In the party’s view, the company “will use its economic power and virtual near-monopoly to manipulate public opinion in favor of its own interests, thereby violating Art. 5, Title VI, of the Federal Constitution.” Also according to the paper, Google says it uses “automated systems” that “don’t take political ideology,” but uses its own policies that apply to the issue to solve the problem.
