Eight-part adaptation of Carley Fortune bestseller to debut globally on June 10
Prime Video has released the official trailer and key art for Every Year After, the forthcoming romantic drama adapted from Carley Fortune’s bestselling novel Every Summer After, as streaming platforms continue to expand investment in book-to-screen adaptations aimed at younger global audiences.
The Amazon Original series will launch exclusively on Prime Video on June 10, with all eight episodes released simultaneously across more than 240 countries and territories.
In promotional materials accompanying the trailer launch, the series was introduced under the headline: “You Came Home:” Every Year After Leaves the Light On for the Love Story of the Summer in Newly Released Trailer.
The series arrives amid continued growth in demand for romance-led streaming content, particularly titles driven by online reading communities such as BookTok, which has become an increasingly influential marketing force for publishers and streaming studios alike.
Adaptation follows enduring summer romance set in Barry’s Bay
Set across “six years and one week” in the lakeside town of Barry’s Bay, the series centres on Percy and Sam, whose evolving relationship forms the emotional core of the story.
Prime Video described the production as “a romantic, nostalgic story of first loves and the people and choices that mark us forever.”
The adaptation is based on Carley Fortune’s novel Every Summer After, which spent 16 weeks on the New York Times Bestseller list and has sold more than one million copies globally. The title also gained significant traction on TikTok’s BookTok community, where the hashtag linked to the novel has generated more than 81.4 million views.
The series stars Sadie Soverall, known for her role in Saltburn, alongside Matt Cornett, recognised for performances in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series and Summer of 69.
Supporting cast members include Aurora Perrineau, Abigail Cowen, Michael Bradway, Joseph Chiu and Elisha Cuthbert.
Amy B. Harris leads production team
Established television producer to serve as showrunner
Television writer and producer Amy B. Harris will serve as showrunner and executive producer on the project.
Harris previously worked as executive producer and showrunner for The Wilds on Prime Video and has an overall development agreement with Amazon MGM Studios. Her previous television credits include Sex and the City, The Carrie Diaries, Gossip Girl, The Comeback and Designated Survivor.
Carley Fortune also joins the production team as an executive producer alongside Lindsey Liberatore, Amy Rardin, John Stephens and Grace Gilroy.
The project represents another strategic adaptation for Prime Video as streaming companies increasingly look to established literary properties with strong online fan communities to reduce audience acquisition risks in a competitive entertainment market.
Carley Fortune’s commercial success continues
Author’s latest novel released earlier this year
Fortune has emerged as one of the most commercially successful contemporary romance authors in North America in recent years.
According to information released alongside the trailer, the writer’s books have sold approximately 4.7 million copies in 35 languages worldwide.
Her latest novel, Our Perfect Storm, was released in May 2026, adding to a catalogue that includes One Golden Summer, This Summer Will Be Different, Meet Me at the Lake and Every Summer After.
Before transitioning into fiction writing, Fortune worked as a journalist and editor for several Canadian publications including The Globe and Mail, Chatelaine, Toronto Life and Refinery29 Canada.
The author’s personal connection to Barry’s Bay, the setting that inspired Every Summer After, has become a defining feature of the brand surrounding the series adaptation.
Prime Video strengthens original content portfolio
Prime Video continues to invest heavily in exclusive scripted programming as streaming competition intensifies globally.
The platform’s broader content portfolio includes original productions such as The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Fallout, Reacher and The Boys, alongside third-party subscription offerings and live sports programming.
The release of Every Year After reflects continued demand for premium romance content within the streaming sector, particularly adaptations with established readerships and strong social media engagement.
The full eight-episode season will be available exclusively on Prime Video from June 10.
