The two Portuguese teams participating in the competition, Morches and HC Braga, have qualified for the quarter-finals of the European Hockey Cup on Saturday.

The Morchis team achieved this achievement after eliminating Diesbach, despite losing in the second leg of the “eighth round” with a score of 6-2. Hugo Lourenco's team had won the first round and advanced by five goals against Switzerland in this second match, allowing them to advance to the next stage after this defeat.

Minho's team found it more difficult to “secure” their passage to the next stage.

The match remained tied until the end of extra time (2-2), which led to continued penalty kicks. Then, after many missed opportunities, Joao Silva and Pedro Mendes scored the winning goal for the team led by Tu Neves (4-3).

Meanwhile, the Italians from Follonica, led by Portuguese Sergio Silva, qualified for the next stage after defeating the Germans from Heeringen with a score of 5-3. In the first leg, at home, the Italian team had already won without difficulty, 6-1.

Spanish team Voltrega tied with CS Noise 4-4 in the second leg of the round of 16, but still advanced, after winning the first match at home with a score of 11-2.

Valdano (1-1) also tied with La Vendien, but benefited from a 4-3 home win in the first match, which also allowed them to advance to the “quarter” of the competition.

The Italian team Monza defeated its guest, the Spanish team Noya, 6-3. In the first game they also won 3-2, so there is another team to go on.

Igualada, who lost in the first match at Grosseto Stadium 3-2, achieved the same result in regular time and in extra time in the second match. The match was decided by penalty kicks, with Igualada leading (4-2).

In the last match of the day, Sarzana defeated Alcoy 8-4, after a first match in which it lost 4-3, to also secure a place in the next stage of the competition.
