PlayStation just released new gameplay details for Helldivers 2. In a post on the official PlayStation blog, Katherine, Arrowhead’s Social Media and Community Manager, provides a deeper look into the game’s co-op functions and combat dynamics. In the new game, which will be released in 2023.
Stratagems, powerful tools that can be summoned through button combinations for aerial attacks, and access to bigger and more powerful weapons, defensive equipment and additional supplies, are more violent than ever. When selecting Stratagems, it is possible to coordinate with the team to select the best possible resources for each enemy type and mission.
If the player is up against armored enemies such as the Terminid Charger, it is possible to equip armor-piercing weapons such as the AT-48 Recoilless Rifle or AC-8 Autocannon, which feature assisted reloading by teammates to keep battles more chaotic. There are also defensive tricks.
While the Helldiver deals with heavy fire, another player can summon a shield generator to protect teammates while enemies retreat. In a team of four, players can choose the combination of tricks and weapons they find suitable for each type of mission.
In addition to cooperative combat, there is an option to carry out objectives to be completed as a team. In them it is possible to share locations with other players and move around the map together. Players also find optional objectives to complete, which require less detouring from teammates and more ammo.
