Embraer has its own eVTOL in development by its subsidiary Eve.
Air-One opened this Monday, the 25th, in the United Kingdom, a vertical port that will serve as a landing point for delivery drones and, in the future, for flying cars.
It is the first of its kind in the country to open a new phase in sustainable, low-carbon aviation. Operated for one month by Urban-Airport, the vertical port will serve as a test pilot for the more than 200 companies the company plans to open in the next five years.
For now, the site serves as a landing site for delivery drones. In this introduction, the Malloy Aeronautics T150 drone borrowed from the British Army was used. He brought his first flight with a box of sparkling wines weighing about 12 kg.
The main idea is that in the future these ports will be used by flying vehicles called eVTOLs (Portuguese for electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles) to carry passengers such as low-impact helicopters or taxis.
In Brazil, Embraer is developing models of these vehicles through its subsidiary Eve. At 3.2 meters high and 13 meters long, Eve’s eVTOL has already been ordered by companies interested in exploring this mode of urban transportation from the United States to Australia. Overall, More than 1700 flying vehicles have already been soldDelivery is expected from 2026.
Last year, through the Eve Rio Experience, I was able to experience the ride directly on one of these models. Between November and December, there were regular flights between RIOgaleão Airport and the Barra da Tijuca area in Rio de Janeiro. The trip, which can take anywhere from 30 minutes to more than an hour, was done by eVTOL in 15 minutes.
