Google Maps has gotten a new color palette for its maps, making it harder to distinguish roads from backgrounds, parks and lakes, and the search engine giant is unlikely to back down from the update. Waze did not want to lag behind and also tried to complicate life for users and this time I am not talking about the problems of dark mode in CarPlay. In fact, it’s something much more annoying. At least for those who used this function. However, one of Waze’s main functions has disappeared after the latest update!

Oh no! One of Waze’s main functions is gone!

Waze is a very integrated app. In fact, it has so many functions that we don’t even realize, in many cases, all that it can do. Calendar integration is one of them. It helps to plan everything and not forget anything.

If you’ve never used calendar sync support on Waze, you don’t know what you’re missing. Once users set up the calendar integration, they can launch the app and view their appointments in Waze, with a shortcut to driving to the next meeting (as long as the appointment address is configured in advance). In addition, the destination of each appointment appeared in the search results when searching for an address.

Based on calendar data, the Planned Trips section also displays upcoming trips with relevant address information.

Main functions of Waze app

The latest Waze update put an end to this. So, anyone who travels on the road regularly and has multiple appointments has to open the calendar, expand the appointment, look up the address, open it in Waze, set the route and then start navigating. The process is complicated and not as convenient as having everything done automatically by Waze.

But is this really the end?

A Waze user on the Google forums claims that he contacted the development team and that they realized this was a bug. The latest update caused the failure, so Waze developers are now working on fixing that so that everything will be back to normal in the next version. There’s no information available about a launch date, but the good news is that calendar integration is here to stay on Waze. At least for now, as Waze previously removed several features that suffered from low usage, including the iOS widget.
