It recorded net profit figures of 41.1 million euros in the first three months of the year, an increase of 34.6% over the same period the previous year, when it reported a profit of 30.5 million euros. The information was disclosed this Tuesday to the Securities Markets Committee (CMVM).


Consolidated revenue for the company led by Miguel Almeida grew 10.6%, to 373.4 million euros, with the company indicating that this increase was boosted by the performance of the communications business and the restoration of the cinemas and visual cinema area. Looking at telecom revenue only, the operator recorded an increase of 9%, to €365.8 million.


In cinemas and audiovisual media, this operation recorded an increase in revenue of 71.1% to 16.6 million euros. In theaters, however, Nos notes that some of the effects of restrictions due to the pandemic are still being felt at the start of the year. The company sold 987,600 movie tickets in the first three months of the year, compared to 15,900 tickets sold in the same period in 2021. The company notes that in the first three months of 2022, despite the increase in viewership, this was less than a quarter The last of 2021 due to epidemiological restrictions.


The operator’s EBITDA was €159.4 million, up 4.8% over last year.


“This quarter is marked by the continued increase in Nos investment largely directed towards the implementation of 5G, a technology we have been aiming to drive from the start, and the continued expansion of our Gigabit network, which already reaches more than 1.5 million homes across the country,” he commented. In the quarter, a number indicates that it maintained the pace of investment, noting that total capital expenditures rose 44.9% to 143.3 million euros.


“In the first three months of the year, Nos delivered solid results, grew in clients in all areas of the business, significantly increased the number of services it currently provides to its clients, and grew in revenue and net income,” comments Miguel Almeida, CEO of Nos. “We live in difficult times, with the effects of the pandemic still being felt, and with the stress brought on by the conflict in Ukraine, but that hasn’t distracted us from our path. We continue to work on expanding our networks, diversifying our offer and improving the customer experience.”


The operator ended the quarter with a total of 5.2 million homes, up 5.2% over the same period in 2021.
