The union stressed, “Mark Dickey was removed. The rescue operation was successful.” In a statement, Mark’s parents, Debbie and Andy Dickie, highlighted the “indescribable relief” after their son was rescued “in stable circumstances.”

Mark Dickey (40 years old) suffered an abdominal bleed while exploring the Murca cave system near Mersin (south) with an international team. About 190 experts from Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Poland and Turkey participated in the rescue operation, including doctors, paramedics and experienced cave workers.

According to Cenk Yildiz, head of the Turkish emergency aid agency in that region, who visited the site, the American received bags of plasma and serum to stabilize his condition. On Saturday afternoon, the operations of lifting stretchers through the corridors, which are sometimes lifted vertically, began in stages.

Mark Dickie, who was at a depth of 1,120 meters when he contracted the disease, was able to be placed under observation in a camp located at a depth of 1,040 metres, following a distress call issued on Saturday, September 2, according to the European Center for Cave Monitoring. Rescue Association.

On Monday night, the cave located in North America was recovered to a depth of only 100 metres, while the remaining operation allowed the rescue operation to succeed.

In a video message sent from inside the cave and made available by the Turkish government last week, Dickey thanked the cave community and Turkey for their efforts.

“The cave world is a very tight-knit group and it’s amazing to see how many people responded,” Dickey said, expressing particular gratitude for the Turkish government’s “quick response to provide me with the medical supplies I needed. In my opinion, it was just that.” You saved my life. “I was very close to my limit.”

The cave owner, who was seen standing and moving in the video, said that although he was alert and talking, he had not been “healed from the inside” and would need a lot of help to get out of the cave.

Murca Shasim is the third deepest cave in Turkey, on the Tassili Plateau, in an inaccessible mountainous area of Mersin Province.
