Since May 2022, the results of more than 53.3 million health tests conducted in the National Health Service (SNS) have become available in digital form.

Since April 2022, more than 26.1 million MCDT applications have also been issued in dematerialized form, and the dematerialization rate has reached 90.8% in just over a year.

These are some of the results of the “Digital Health Exams” scale, integrated into “Simplex 2022”, which consists of removing the complete material of MCDT applications submitted in the SNS, covering all clinical areas. The results are also sent electronically to the user, becoming available on the SNS portal and on the SNS24 app, contributing to the speed and security of the whole process and simplifying the lives of citizens and health professionals.

In the case of examinations, 40.4 million results have been coded according to the Portuguese Catalog of Laboratory Analysis, a standardized list of order designations and laboratory results, facilitating the consultation and interpretation of health professionals from the different units that need access to this information.

Within the scope of “Simplex 2022”, the implementation of “Telemonit SNS24” has also been completed, a measure that enables remote monitoring of the health status of SNS users hospitalized at home and suffering from diseases such as heart failure, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, among others other.

This system makes it possible to conduct clinical follow-up in the patient’s home while they are recovering, avoiding unnecessary hospitalization and increasing people’s comfort, without sacrificing safety. It is now being expanded to all home hospitalization units.

The “Simplex 2022” program includes 48 measures to simplify, modernize and innovate, with digitization being dedicated as a general rule as a way to improve the quality of public services, centered around the relevant life events of individuals and companies.
