There are several types of digestive system cancers, including: stomach cancer, esophageal cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, and colorectal cancer.
Colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer worldwide. In Portugal, more than 10,000 new cases are diagnosed annually (about 4,000 deaths annually).
The population is still unaware of the symptoms of this disease. However, early diagnosis can save lives!
As part of raising awareness of this issue, Eurobacolon Portugal, a support association for patients with gastrointestinal cancer (a private social solidarity foundation established in 2006), seeks through its work to promote three main goals:
– Promoting preventive attitudes and enhancing conditions that allow early diagnosis.
– Increasing health culture, with the aim of reducing the number of cases of gastrointestinal cancer (intestine, stomach, pancreas, liver, neuroendocrine tumors, and gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST));
– Enhance support and improve the quality of life of patients, survivors, family members and caregivers.
the next day April 5, This association will promote an awareness campaign on this topic In the Monchique Parish Council Hall at 10.30am.
Participation is free and open to all residents.
