Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki has revealed that the PlayStation 5 edition of Demon Souls is putting extra pressure on the graphics team to improve graphic accuracy in the studio’s next title.

The remake created by Bluepoint studio was one of the most well-received games of 2020, mostly praised for its stunning visuals, which were considered by many to set a new standard in terms of graphics for the new generation of consoles.

In the latest issue of Edge magazine, the software designer admitted he had yet to play the remake of the title originally released in 2009, but admitted that his influence was being felt in the team responsible for developing Elden Ring, the studio’s next title. Programming.

He added that this interest is not only reflected in the development of Elden Ring, but in all the titles they are responsible for and that “Graphics quality is not the component we give the highest priority to. What we require in the graphic aspect depends on the systems and requirements of the game itself, and it has a lower priority when compared to other development elements“.

“So it turns out to be a less demanding area with our graphics team, because I know they work really hard. And they’ve worked a lot on Elden Ring – our graphics team and developers both worked hard on new features to create one of the most beautiful games we’ve ever made.“.

Elden Ring is a collaboration between FromSoftware and George R. R. Martin, author of A Song of Ice and Fire. The mind behind the popular Game of Thrones is responsible for creating the legacy and narrative foundations for Elden Ring, while FromSoftware used that concept and foundation to build and develop the rest of the game.
