He was with two top ten spots (5th and 10th) between the first and second free practice sessions, respectively, at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (AIA) as Miguel Oliveira started the Portuguese Grand Prix at the MotoGP.

In exclusive statements to Sport TV, the Portuguese KTM rider assumed the drop from 5 to 10 in his second free practice session was due to the fact that he wasn’t able to put “enough temperature” into the rear tire.

“Yes, as expected [encontrámos] Difficult conditions, perhaps the most complex [para hoje] To adapt to the cold but we had a couple of good sessions, I felt really good with the bike. At the start of the second session, I went with the used tire in the back, and wanted to improve my time, but couldn’t get enough temperature in the tire. In the second round, with the new rear tire, there was already a lot of water on the circuit, but I was one of the quickest riders in that period of training, so I’m completely happy and satisfied with the bike on this type of surface,” says Miguel Oliveira.

And the Portuguese pilot revealed tomorrow that he is ready for all the weather conditions he faces on the circuit. “It will be what it has to be, we have to be fast in any circumstances and cunning. We will have to plan everything for wet or everything for dry, or even for mixed conditions but we will do well, I am ready for that and the goal is to be among the The top ten in the third session.”

Regarding the lack of public participation in the AIA bleachers, Miguel Oliveira posits that as a fan he would also have preferred the “comfort of home rather than the wind” felt at Portimão.

“Today was tough, I too as a fan would have chosen to rest at home rather than wind from the bench, but it is great to see some of the audience already, but I know that in the next couple of days more will arrive and the support will be incredible,” he concluded.
