Health Minister Marta Temido said on Friday that lifting restrictions due to the pandemic resulted from a “collective effort” to vaccinate involving residents, health professionals and the task force, but noted that there was still “a lot to be done”.

“Thanks to everyone’s efforts, it was possible to reach this result thanks to teamwork, but there is still much to be done,” the official said on the sidelines of the presentation of PS’s candidacy to the Valongo City Council. by Jose Manuel Ribeiro.

Speaking of “collective action”, the head of the health dossier referred to the “unprecedented cooperation” of the Portuguese in calling for vaccination, health professionals, the task force and all entities involved that have the potential to bring in more vaccines than those initially appointed.

As for vaccination centers, Marta Temedo said their closure is “imminent” because vaccination is in the last stage.

He said, “All vaccination centers that are currently working in the framework of this campaign will be closed soon because the vaccination campaign, fortunately, we hope to end by the end of September or October.”

The government announced today that Portugal will no longer be in a state of catastrophe due to the development of the pandemic, becoming a state of emergency regarding measures to contain COVID-19.

Among the measures that will come into effect on the 23rd, is to increase the maximum capacity of restaurants and the like, which ranges from six to eight people per table inside, and on stands from 10 to 15 people.

In contrast, events, whether they are family in nature, including weddings and christenings, or cultural events in permanent display venues, now have a 75% occupancy limit.

Trade, restaurants and fairs maintain normal business hours, max. 02:00, and are still subject to the rules of the Directorate General of Health (DGS).

A Covid-19 certificate or negative test is still required at tourist establishments, local accommodations, and inside restaurants on weekends and holidays.
